PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) – Industrial Plastic

PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) is an industrial plastic useful for its chemical inertness and its high-purity properties, allowing it to perform well even under extreme temperatures, corrosive environments and within acidic fluids. The chemical resistance properties make PTFE a remarkably versatile polymer and therefore PTFE solenoid valves are commonly used in harsh industrial applications.

PVDF plastic (polyvinylidene fluoride) is another industrial polymer with excellent high purity, abrasion resistant, and chemical resistant properties. It is also available in FDA compliant grades. PVDF is a high tech plastic material from the fluoropolymer family and is typically used in applications and processes whose extreme conditions require the highest purity. PVDF high purity plastic valves are particularly suited to adverse conditions thanks to the material’s strength, resistance to acids, bases, solvents and heat, as well as its property of low smoke generation in the event of a fire.

The sealing surfaces of typical High Purity Plastic and PTFE Solenoid Valves can be purchased in three different internal configurations; PTFE with Viton O-Rings, PTFE with Kalrez O-Rings, and an all PTFE wetted surface design. The valves are protected from the harsh industrial environment when in operation by long lasting, durable PTFE diaphragms, ensuring a long and reliable service life. Each of these PTFE Solenoid Valve types can be configured to fit various shapes, fittings, connections, power supplies and flow configurations or custom made to order from specialty plastic fabrication manufacturers.
